Christine Lagarde has served as President of the European Central Bank since November 2019. She also chairs the European Systemic Risk Board and participates in the G7 and G20.
Before joining the ECB, she led the International Monetary Fund from 2011 to 2019. Earlier, she served as France’s Minister of Economy and Finance and became the first woman to hold that office in a G7 economy.
Her professional path began in law. She rose to become Global Chairman of Baker McKenzie, bringing a legal, international and consensus-driven perspective to economic leadership.
